Quartz Arenite (Orthoquartzite) microscope thin section ideal for educational use. Quartz Arenite is a sedimentary rock and part of the sandstone family. These rocks are categorised by being composed of majority (at least 90 – 95%) quartz grains being joined together by a very strong siliceous cement. This makes it much harder than a typical sandstone, which is much more granular in texture and appearance. These rocks are Cambrian in age , and were collected from Scotland, UK. The section is made to 30 microns thickness and the glass is 46 x 27 mm in size with a cover slip. Supplied in a protective card sleeve with a label, ideal for microscopy.
