Millstone grit thin section slide exhibiting the coarse and siliceous nature of this British Carboniferous coarse sandstone. The thin section shows the often poorly sorted, coarse and relatively angular clasts one would expected from rapid deposition in a high energy deltaic environment. These thin sections supplement the hand specimens nicely and would make useful educational tools for interpreting the transportation and diagenetic history of the rock. This rock was collected near Horwich, Bolton. The section is made to 30 microns thickness and the glass is 46 x 27 mm in size with a cover slip. Supplied in a protective card sleeve with a label, ideal for microscopy.
