Microscope thin section slides of limestone breccia from India, showing large clasts of limestone cemented in a matrix. Breccia is formed when large angular fragments are cemented together in a matrix of smaller particles with a mineral cement. It is formed by mechanical weathering processes that create angular fragments, if fragments are eroded to become more rounded then the rock formed would be classed as a conglomerate. The slides are 30 microns thick and measure 46 x 27 mm in size and have a cover slip of the section along with a protective cardboard sleeve.
