A beautiful display piece of Stromatolite collected from Potosi, Bolivia. These Stromatolites belong to the genus Pucalithus, and date to the Cretaceous period. Stromatolites are a term used to describe a range of layered sedimentary formations, predominantly created by photosynthesising microorganisms. Fossilised stromatolites are crucial as they record some of the most ancient life. This specimen measures approximately 14 x 10 x 9cm at its widest and deepest points, and weighs around 1600 grams.
