Specimens of Black Amber, collected from Sarawak, Borneo. Amber is the fossil form of the biological material – tree sap. It dates to the Tertiary Period around 15 – 25 million years ago. Unlike more traditional amber that has a golden colour and more transparent – translucent appearance. These are more opaque and have a brown, glassy texture. These specimens display fluorescence under a UV light, showing pale green and yellow colours. They measure between 1 – 2″ approximately and come in a card tray with an information label.
