Workshop ‘E-xtending the St@ge’

Engaging Audiences in the Social Sphere

In collaboration with renowned transmedia producer Asta Wellejus (Die Asta Experience) and the well-known digital editor Jens Jørgen Madsen (Berlingske Media), this hands-on workshop will explore how performing arts organisations can integrate social and digital media into the productions themselves, thus ‘extending their stage’ and connecting with their audiences before, during and after the performance. The workshop will be based on concrete questions and case studies by the participants.

Jens Jorgen MadsenJens Jørgen Madsen is the digital editor of Berlingske responsible for digitization across all publications as well as the daily management and development of B.dk, Berlingske infographics and Berlingske on mobile platforms.  Berlingske Media is one of the most important Danish media companies and owns a large number of newspapers, in addition to websites, national and local radio stations. The main newspaper in the company, Berlingske Tidende is one of the worlds oldest newspapers, having published its first issue on January 3, 1749. Website

Asta Wellejus – Die Asta Experience

Asta WelliusAsta Wellejus is an experienced transmedia producer/ developer. She was headhunted by Lars von Trier in 1997 to develop new ways of combining film, theater, role playing and games, Asta co-founded Zentropa Interaction in 1999, producing interactive formats (Films, Games, ARG´s, Alternate Launch, Exhibition, Role plays, and Mobile learning tools etc) In 2007 she founded ”Die Asta Experience” to focus on digital interactive media and audience participation. Theatron Partners

Theatron members, associated members and other workshop participants are asked to prepare short case studies and specific questions concerning the use of social media in performance and productions. These will be discussed as part of the workshop, and circulated to all participants.
