1st Creative Community Engagement Workshop

This two day workshop brings together representatives from Theatron venues for a focus on community engagement, outreach and education. There will be opportunities to explore and discuss trends in artistic practice and creative learning.

Wednesday 5 December

Setting the scene: 13.00– 17.00 (lunch from 12.30)

An introduction to Sadler’s Wells and its approach to audience development from Alistair Spalding (Artistic Director and Chief Executive) and Kingsley Jeyasekera (Director of Marketing and Digital Strategy).  Introduction to Sadler’s Wells community engagement projects Fiona Ross and Jane Hackett (Co-Directors of Creative Learning).

Case study presentations by Theatron partners will consider different approaches venues are adopting to enable effective learning and engagement with communities. Colleagues can share their experiences about the challenges and opportunities of engaging audiences through creative learning projects.

Thursday 6 December

Different perspectives on creative engagement: 09.00 – 12.00

Artists, participants and researchers join the discussion to debate the vital ingredients for generating successful participatory projects. During this session, workshop partners will gain a deeper understanding of what is required from artists and venues to enable meaningful community engagement.

 

Steering Committee Meeting: 12.00 – 15.00

Review and discussion of Theatron proposals for audience development and creative engagement. Opportunity to review the submissions and discuss strategies for extending the reach and impact. The full programme is on Theatron’s internal platform at:
