All My Dreams Come True / Träume werden Wirklichkeit

All My Dreams Come True/  Träume werden Wirklichkeit is the working title of a transnational Theatron Adaptation to be showcased in 2014.

Partners
Aarhus Teater, DK (original production) with Staatsschauspiel Dresden, DE (adaptation)
Aims
The adventure of discovering “it” together: what moves us, what moves our audiences?
Description
People are tired of everyday life, of stereotypical body ideals, of the financial crisis and of the politicians whose only answer is ‘growth’. They long for real adventure, for barricades to stand on, for finding “it”. The problem is to actually figure out what “it” is. In search of new dreams and new adventures, we create our own ‘Disney Movie’: titled “All My Dreams Come True”.

Original Production

Script and Staging: Christian Lollike /  Set Design: Rufus Didwiszus / Costume Designer: Ulrike Gutbrod

amdctrueWhen You Wish Upon A Star” sings Jiminy Cricket in the classic Disney Christmas Show. In today’s Denmark, these hopes not only reserved for Christmas. Every Friday, children ‘inhale’ Disney fun, while  adults fill themselves increasingly with antidepressants. It is precisely this intersection between Disney-like dreams and modern depression which is central to Christian Lollike’s new piece:

Two people are depressed. They are tired of everyday life, of liver pate, of  stereotypical body ideals, of the financial crisis and of the politicians whose only solution is ‘growth’. They long for real adventure, for barricades to stand on, and not least for IT. The problem is that they actually do not know what IT could be. They blame Disney for the fact that their imagination has become sterile and that they can no longer imagine a different world. In search of new dreams and new adventures they decide to make their own Disney Movie – one where all their dreams can come true. They call it: All My Dreams Come True.

Staring actors Marie Louise Wille and Morten Burian and five fairytale creatures: A man of 2.16 metre tutu, two dwarfs in princess dresses, an biiig woman and a gorilla.

This new piece by Christian Lollike was co-produced by Aarhus Teater with Aarhus Festival and CT in 2013. Christian Lollike is one of “the most successful Danish playwrights in recent years” (Henrik Lyding, Jyllands-Posten).
